pattern uses US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, or correct size needles to obtain gauge.

It is important to block the hat sufficiently to get a slouchy look. If you would like your hat to be extra slouchy, you can add 4 pattern rows by working rows 21-24 of chart 1 before beginning chart 1 from row 1.

If you are getting correct row gauge, your beret will measure approximately 6.5 inches from top of ribbing to top of crown (not including ribbing).
