Channel is a top-down sweater knit in the round with 0-2” negative ease and a slipped single stitch spiral. It can be made with short or long sleeves and features a broken rib at the hem, cuffs, and neckline. The sweater is worked back and forth through the raglan increases and then joined.

Special thanks to Wendy Sullivan, WISinOR on ravelry, for tech editing the pattern and to all the test knitters for ironing out the kinks.

Yarn: This pattern was written to utilize madelinetosh sport, but any sportweight or similar yarn can be used provided you get gauge with it. I wouldn’t recommend a pure silk or bamboo yarn due to growth and drape.

Gauge: 20 sts / 32 rows = 4”

Sizes 28(32, 36, 40, 44, 48) – based on finished measurement in inches at bust. Sweater is intended to fit with zero-negative ease depending on your comfort level – the photos show 2” negative ease. Size 28 is sized for, say, your tween - it’s tiny.

Yardage (long sleeve): 850 (950, 1050, 1150, 1300, 1400)
Yardage (short sleeve): 600 (700, 800, 900, 1050, 1150)

Needles: Size 5 circular needles (24” & dpns or some combination of size 5 circulars for the sleeves) or size needed to get gauge.

For the short-sleeve version: you will also need a size 3 (2 circulars, 1 small circular, dpns) for the sleeve ribbing.

Optional: A larger needle for the bind off.
