Pattern description from Interweave Knits, Winter 2004:
Inspired by the fine-gauge baby sweaters found in knitting books from the 1940s era, Erica Alexander has designed this textured jacked for the newest member of her extended family. The body is worked in a single piece to the armholes, and the fronts and back are separated and worked individually to the shoulders. The front bands, including buttonholes, are worked simultaneously with the body. Four tiny buttons and a fold-over collar give the sweater a sweet style.

Finished Size: 23” (58.5 cm) chest circumference, buttoned.

Yarn: Gems Pearl (100% merino; 185 yd 169 m/50 g): #01 champagne, 3 skeins (there will be very little yarn left over). Yarn distributed by Louet Sales.

Needles:

  • Body and sleeves - Size 3 (3.25 mm): 24” (60-cm) circular (cir).
  • Collar - Size 2 (2.75 mm): 24” (60-cm) circular (cir).
  • Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle; four 1/4” (6-mm) buttons.
