SKA November 2014 MOCK

This pattern was released as a series of 4 clues on the following dates:

  • Clue 1: Nov 1, 2014
  • Clue 2: Nov 8
  • Clue 3: Nov 15
  • Clue 4: Nov 22

This is a top-down, colorwork pattern with a heel flap and gussets. There are two sizes available - 72 sts and 80 sts. You can also adjust sizing by choosing lighter/heavier fingering yarn with smaller/larger needles to get the gauge you need for fit. Divide the number of stitches in the sock by the circumference of your ankle or foot to find the gauge you need.

  • At 9 spi, the medium sock will be 8” in circumference and the large will be just under 9”.
  • At 8 spi, the medium size will be 9” in circumference and the large will be 10”.

You will need two contrasting yarn colors. I’m estimating 70-80g of the main color (MC) and 50-60g of the contrast color (CC). This is subject to change, and of course is variable based on the chosen size, leg length (a minimum length will apply for SKA prize eligibility), and foot length. The CC may be variegated but should not share any colors with the MC. Two sets of charts will be provided - one for a light main color and alternate charts if your main color is dark.

I find that knitting colorwork socks inside out helps manage float length to prevent your socks from being too tight. Here is a link to my video tutorial on this method:
