Nowadays most fingerless mitt patterns are designed to be knit in the round. While they’re quite popular, not everyone wishes to do so. I wanted to design a pair of mitts that could be knit flat and remain interesting enough to entertain even the most experienced knitter without alienating those who are just starting out. I believe that Winter’s Garden Mitts have fulfilled what I was trying accomplish. Knit flat and in one piece there is enough texture to keep this quick knit quite interesting. There are small bobbles, simple decreases and yarn overs that are used to create a delicate rose garden to remind us of warmer days. There is a simple gusset added to make your thumb nice and cozy and finally the mattress stitch is used to keep the seam as comfortable as possible. Whether these mitts are intended to be a gift or you keep them for yourself, I hope that you enjoy making them as much as I did.

Due to errors in the Knotions version I have updated the pattern which can be found under the ravelry link above.
