It’s all LondonSam’s fault. After starting to crochet again and getting quickly doilie’d out, he seduced me back into knitting by parading gorgeous yarns in front of me and telling me repeatedly how much more versatile knitting is.

At school, aged 7, we knit/knitted/knat blankets for the poor in alternating squares of sky blue and hideous maroon. Probably no surprise it took a few decades to return to the craft. Now all I can think is, Why did I wait so long? And how could I have missed out for so many years on the joy of the classic construction of a sock, the tactile heaven that is cashmere & baby camel or the feast for the eyes and soul in the jewelled colours of exclusive yarns?

Oh, and in any spare time not being used for knitting, I indulge in Salsa dancing, improvising musicals and F1.
