10-117 Parade of Balloons Hat
A whimsical little hat that’s sure to become a favourite!
From the narrow rolled brim and basket weave pattern float a jolly parade of balloons. The top portion is knit totally in twisted stitches and the rate of decrease creates that whimsical pointed top.
Stitch patterns are both charted and written out.
From the pattern notes:
”... a variation of Barbara Walker’s method has been adopted to chart the increased stitches …. Rather than expand the chart to show each individual stitch, special symbols represent multiple stitches, e.g. in R8, stitch column 13, the (5) actually represents 5 knit stitches. In this way, pattern elements stay lined up in the chart and it avoids having to chart ‘no stitch’ placeholders in the rows below the increases and above the decreases.”
