This written crochet pattern includes all the instructions needed to make your own 5-way jointed lion with moving arms, legs and head. I will show three ways to make the mane with either regular, felting or eyelash yarn.

Includes one PDF file, 17 pages.
Pattern is written in English, using US crochet terminology. I included detailed instructions, many step-by-step photos and useful tips and tricks.

SIZE

30 cm (12”) tall, when crocheted with worsted weight wool yarn and a 3,50 mm hook (US size 4/E).

DIFFICULTY

3: Intermediate - includes more complicated crochet stitches and techniques, making the mane requires quite a lot of patience.

SKILLS REQUIRED

YOU WILL NEED

  • Yarn. I used worsted weight wool yarn, 80 m = 50 g (87 yds = 50 g) / 10 ply / 9 wpi. You will need about 125 g of yarn for the body. You will also need 30 g of eyelash yarn or 40 g of fingering weight wool yarn or 35 g of wool felting yarn or roving, thread and wire brush (slicker brush) for the mane.
  • 3,25 - 4,75 mm crochet hook (US size 3/D – G) or according to the yarn.
  • Polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding etc. for stuffing.
  • 12 mm (1/2”) safety eyes and a 20 mm (3/4”) triangular safety nose or buttons, beads, felt etc.
  • Two 20 mm (3/4”), two 30 mm (1 1/5”) and one 35 mm (1 1/3”) plastic doll joints or safety eyes in the same size or buttons and strong thread.
  • Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker.
