When it’s blustery and cold, this is the perfect winter hood to wear. It covers your head and cuddles your neck. The instructions provide an option to make the hood cover more of your face than shown in the pics. The cowl portion is designed so it lays smoothly around the shoulders without bulkiness so the Amaliya can be worn under or over your outwear. This is a great winter accessory for guys and girls.

With super bulky yarn, the hooded cowl is a quick knit.

The inspiration for The Amaliya Balaclava comes from a collaborative effort with a dear friend named Amy with whom I shared many joyful times discussing knitting. Coupled with that inspiration is my Russian ancestry. Amaliya is a variant form of the English Amy in the Russian language. This creation is a celebration of both.
