Papiput x Meyoco :: a half-ellipse shaped lace shawl combining geometric and organic shapes inspired by the character illustrations and colors of Meyoco, knit using the two-color brioche stitch. The stitch patterns created for this shawl were inspired by two beautiful Indonesian artists: Amelia, the dyer behind Papiput Yarns, and Meyo, the incredible artist behind Meyoco Illustrations.

Amelia x Meyo = Ameyo.

Skill level: Intermediate. Basic brioche skills are not required, but are recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases.

Construction Notes: Due to the brioche shaping used in this pattern, the final shape of the shawl ends up being a cross between a crescent and a half-circle, which I am calling a half-ellipse shape. This half-ellipse shaped shawl is knit from center back down, with increases along the edges. The shawl begins with a geometric diamond stitch pattern, which grows with the shawl. The diamond stitch pattern begins to taper off in the center, while continuing along the increase edge and one large diamond is created in the very center of the shawl before the border begins. The shawl ends with a dramatic leaf border, mimicking the beautiful character illustrations created by Meyoco, where she combines organic leaves and flowers with geometric diamonds. Your finished object will be a triangle shape; the final half-ellipse shape is acheived through blocking. Schematic, blocking notes and photos are all included with pattern.

This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!
