According to mythology, Amphitrite was the wife of Poseidon and goddess of the sea. This shawl, with its generous ring of diamonds surrounded by foaming waves is a fitting tribute to such a diety.

Worked from the centre out, this Pi-shawl is approximately 48” (122 cm) in diameter when worked to pattern tension. Pattern tension is based on the Crest of the Waves pattern, with one pattern repeat measuring 2” (5cm) wide and 1-5/8” (4cm) high. Achieving exact pattern tension is not vital but it may affect the finished size of your shawl and the yarn yardage required if you do not.

You will need:
1500 yards (1370m) light fingering weight yarn (shawl shown is knitted in Wollmeise Lace-garn)
3.5mm (US 4) circular needles
3.5mm (US 4) DPNs to start, or use Magic Loop technique
Stitch marker, to mark end of round

You need to be able to: work in the round including small diameter rounds, work common lace increases and decreases, work from either charted or written instructions (it is not necessary to use charts to work this pattern)
