The Amy Shawl is one of a series of four shawls each based on one of the four main characters in the story Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The colours of the shawls are based on the little books that each girl receives for Christmas at the start of the second chapter of the book.

You can make this shawl larger or smaller by adding more or less repeats.

You will need 3 skeins of yarn in different colours, or three the same, perhaps a speckled yarn with a solid and a tonal might be a nice look. I used 3 skeins of Cascade Heritage Sock yarn in 3 different solid colours.

Gauge and tension are not important for this project.

US conversions are included within this pattern.

The main pattern PDF includes all of the information that you will need to make this shawl. However, if you would like additional written instructions to refer to for the row repeats, rather than following the instructions to “repeat row” there is an additional PDF with that information. There is also a PDF with the stitch counts for each row if you would like to refer to that.

The shawls for the other characters from the story are called the Beth Shawl, Meg Shawl and Jo Shawl. These are or will be available soon.
