This little swing jacket is somewhat fitted through the shoulders and bust and then fans out to create a beautiful swing silhouette. It is a shorter length, reaching just above the high hip area. The jacket body features a unique openwork stitch pattern that creates natural “waves” at the hem and throughout the fabric. The focal point is the draped collar, which can be worn up or folded down. The set-in sleeves have a wide cuff that can be worn down or folded up.

Options: Shorter collar and shorter sleeve options are included. The collar has a facing so it has more stability to be worn as a standing collar. However, it isn’t stiff, so it may fold down a bit over time. Making the shorter collar height may work better if you plan to wear it as a standing collar.

Fit: A 2-inch wearing ease is appropriate for this jacket. For example, for a 34-inch bust measurement, the 36-inch finished size would work well. However, it is meant to be somewhat loose and easy to wear, so even an oversize fit with a greater wearing ease will look great. The red version has a much greater wearing ease -- 7 inches larger than the model’s actual bust measurement -- but is still fun to wear. Note the shoulders slope down on the red version and there is more volume in the body.

Yarn Requirements: 1300 to 1500 yards of DK weight yarn

Materials Needed: Crochet hook, stitch markers, 2 decorative buttons (will be seen on outside of jacket), 1 smaller button (will not be seen on outside), tapestry needle, wooden pins (to keep collar flat and even when stitching down)
