Arabella Tallant combines fingering weight yarn and a textured lace pattern to create a striking, detailed shawl. Classic arrow and chevron lace patterns come together to great effect in this shawl.

Knitted from the top down, Arabella has a curved top edge which means that the finished shawl will easily stay on your shoulders.

The lace patterns used in Arabella are straight-forward and make for enjoyable knitting. The first 28 rows of the shawl are patterned on both the right and the wrong side rows. The rest of the shawl is patterned on the right side only and the wrong side rows are ‘resting’ rows.

The shawl is named for Arabella Tallant from the Georgette Heyer novel Arabella. A young and spirited woman raised in a country parsonage, she wears a gown of figured lace to a grand ball at the height of her first season in London’s high society. The textured lace in this shawl is a representation of Arabella’s gown.
