This wonderful little guy would love to be a part of your life! He’s quiet and friendly and is happy with only the occasional nibble of cake. If you are good to him, he will bring you good luck in return.

The Asian Dragon stands around 7-8” (17.5-20cm) tall and 27-34”(67.5-85cm) uncoiled / 9-11” (22.5-27.5cm) coiled using #4/medium/worsted yarn and a 3.75mm/F hook.

Please note, this listing is for the 14-page pattern and tutorial only, not the finished item.

The dragon may look really complicated, but it’s really not; it’s just quite long. The pattern features detailed instructions and color photos of the individual pieces, and is suitable for an advanced beginner.

Stitches used in this pattern are:

  • chain

  • single crochet

  • single crochet increase and decrease

  • slip stitch

  • sc back to marker with left hand / OR turn, sc backwards*

  • basic sewing/embroidery

  • There are a lot of turns in the main body, but each one is worked through step by step and round by round and by the time you’ve done a couple you’ll be wondering what you were worried about. Also included with purchase is a step-by-step tutorial loaded with color photos showing you how to work the turn sets.

About Last Pic: Since I’ve had questions along the lines of ’Why doesn’t mine look like yours?’, I thought I’d post this picture: what my dragon looks like when I pull on his nose and tail.

The reason is this: the way you have to hold the dragon when you’re working the inside of the turns stretches it out of shape. You don’t really have a choice about that, since you couldn’t get at the stitches otherwise, but it makes it end up more stretched out than it should be. All you have to do is take a minute once you’re done to twist it back into shape. Once it’s there, it will stay that way. ^-^
