The Story: During the U.S. presidential campaign, I was re-reading John Green’s Looking for Alaska. When Donald Trump began referring to Hillary Clinton as “Crooked Hillary,” Alaska Young’s attraction to Auden’s words, “I will love my crooked neighbor with all my crooked heart,” prompted my knitting. These stranded or Fair Isle mitts feature both the quote and her instructions to Miles: “Read this line. It’s perfect.” It seems like apt advice.
