“Azami” is a simple, traditional triangular shawl worked from the top down. It starts at the top center, and the garter edges and lace pattern are worked at the same time as increases at both edges and the center. The final garter border adds modernity to the loveliness of the pattern stitch.
I called this shawl “Azami”, thistle in Japanese, because the pattern reminds me of this flower. Thistle motifs also emerge along the center of the shawl by varying increase techniques.

US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 100 cm / 32” or longer.

「Azami」（アザミ）は、シンプルでトラディショナルな三角ショールです。三角形の底辺中央から編みはじめ、中央と両端でガーター編みと模様編みの目を増やしながら編んでいきます。とじはぎはありません。最後の少し太めのガーター編みが、モダンな雰囲気をプラスしてくれます。
ショールの名前はアザミに見える模様からとりました。増し目に工夫を加えて、三角形のまん中にも左右をつなぐ模様が浮かび上がるようにしてあります。
肩に、膝に、首元に。お出かけのおともにぜひどうぞ。
