B Train Hat is part of my 4 pattern collection Better Together: Flirtations with Brioche, a collaboration with Malabrigo Yarn for their Malabrigo Freelance Pattern Project.

What better way to keep those you love warm than with a slouchy hat?
Named in homage to the train line my husband used to take to work (that’s the subway, for the non New Yorkers; took me years to learn this) the B Train hat is cozy and fun and perfect for waiting on those cold open train platforms.
And of course B also stands in nicely for Brioche.

B Train is worked bottom up and is started in the round, then a 2-color brioche insertion is worked over a decreasing area on one side. The result is stunning, but the process is a bit different.
A Brioche Insertion is 2-color Brioche, but it works a bit like Intarsia and when working in the round, requires you to work back and forth over some rows. It is all kinds of fun, but definitely takes a bit of concentration! Just follow the directions and you are on your way!
