I am super excited about this design! Usually I don’t share early in designing because it can take several goes before it works however it’s always good to do something familiar differently! So this time I shared as I went on Instagram.
My new design is inspired by a blurry picture of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan, as she went to visit Prince Louis. I don’t know what stitch was used or what details it has and I don’t want to know, as I’m using it purely as inspiration.
I started by doing a tension square, drew a rough sketch of a design idea & then worked out how many stitches to cast on, based on my tension square & stitch repeat.
This design is also inspired by knitters who pop into my studio – they have asked for 4 ply baby cardigans – so let’s do it!

This cardigan is knitted in one piece until the armholes.

Yarn: 1(2:2:3) 50g balls of 4 ply weight yarn (with 210m per 50g).

Metres/Yardage: 210(420:420:630)m/
230(460:460:689)yds.

Notions: 1 button.
