This hat had directions for two weights fingering and worsted. The fingering hat is sized for a Medium and a Large. The worsted only comes in Large. If you are comfortable playing around with gauge and the number of repeats, it is possible to come up with a wide variety of sizes.

Let me just start by saying that, I love hockey. In fact, “love” may be understating it a bit. So, when I decided to design this hat, I wanted it to be an ode to the backup goalie by choosing hockey team colors (in this case the Kings/gray, Sabres/blue). When I was a kid, I would see the backup sitting there, often in a baseball cap or with no hat at all and I thought their heads looked cold. For some reason, that’s always stuck with me.

This unisex hat starts with 1x1 twisted rib and then works into the colorwork pattern on the body. The crown is a “star” design that is formed rather naturally. The hat also has direction for two weights as mentioned. The fingering version has a looser gauge than the worsted and does fit a little more “slouchy”. The yarns chosen are very “bouncy” and work to give a bit more slouch to the hat.
