Inspired by my family’s Easter tradition of dyeing eggs with onion skins and then etching designs on them, Bazie features one of my favourite motifs to etch: “bazie” (also known as Willow Catkin) as well as a large flower which is also very traditional. The hat is adjustable in the design such that it can be worked with the flower motif, or the bazie that begin the flowers may be extended for the full length of the hat if you’d prefer to omit the flowers as per your personal taste.

This pattern includes 2 charts, one with the bazie at front centre and one with the flowers at front so please choose which you prefer to follow based on how you would like to wear it. Full written instructions are also provided for the flowers at front version.
