Bean Cow is a cow-shaped beanbag toy, felted and filled with rice. It is knit in the round in two pieces (body and head, which are grafted together) with the legs, tail, ears and horns added separately.

Yarn: You will need approximately 50 yards of a sport-weight feltable wool in the main color and approximately 20 yards of a sport-weight feltable wool in the contrasting color for best results.

Supplies:

  • 4 US size 5 double-pointed needles
  • tapestry needle
  • stitch holders or waste yarn
  • funnel
  • 1 cup rice

Finished Measurements: Finished toy is approximately 5 inches long (not including tail) and 2 ½ inches wide after felting.

Note: Gauge and finished size are not particularly important; using a heavier wool will still yield good results, just a bulkier and larger toy.
