Un grand merci à Patricia patamodeler pour la traduction en Français!

A big Grazie to Michela LaMicky for translating this pattern into Italian!

This ample Cardigan, named in honour of the ultimate dandy Beau Brummell, showcases subtle and understated details with it’s textured striping where the material itself becomes the focus (exchanging a single yarn stripe with a stripe where both yarns are held together), a simple stitch pattern and decorative finishing.

The sloped raglan shoulder gives a natural looking and well fitting shape to the yoke, while accelerated short-rows in the integrated neckband allow for generous draping and fuller volume at the reversible patterned neckline that slowly flows into the hem and pockets and continue in the same texture.

Extra long sleeves gradually become transparent and flow into a delicate repetition of the stitch pattern in their lower part. As the neckband, they can be worn folded up too, to show the reverse side of the simple knit/purl stitch pattern.

Yarn:
ColourMart Extra Fine Merino 10/28nm:
4(4,4,4,5,5,5,5) skeins MC (colourway Purple Grey) or approximately 1380(1387,1634,1777,1842,1987,2220,2277) yards or 1262(1268,1494,1625,1684,1817,2030,2082) meters.
…or any other light DK/sport weight yarn (at 457 yards or 417m/150gr) which gives you the proper gauge.

Lana Grossa Silkhair (70% mohair & 30% silk)* :
5(5,5,5,6,6,7,7) skeins CC (colourway 035) or approximately 930(974,1095,1136,1214,1309,1388,1423) yards or 850(891,1001,1039,1110,1197,1269,1301) meters.
…or any other lace weight yarn (at 230 yards or 210m/25gr) which gives you the proper gauge
Please keep in mind that yardage is an estimate.

  • Possible substitution of yarn: For CC it is advised to use lace yarn in either silk, cotton, linen or similar material, that enhances the textured striping and that holds it’s shape after blocking, so that the longer and heavy merino garment won’t grow too much in length after washing. When substituting yarn please make sure that the yardage is similar to the one stated in the pattern and that you get gauge, to end up with a garment with a fit similar to the pictured sample.

Needles:
4mm/US6 circular needles (at least 80 cm/31” long).
and 3,5mm/US4 circular needles to pick up sts
4mm/US6 or smaller sized DPNs.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Tapestry needle, cable needle,
stitch markers (4) + (2) in different colour,
