Choose two skeins of luxurious 4-ply yarn — the pattern uses Kettle Yarn Co Islington and Beyul — and work them into this enveloping shawl. A subtle zigzag (or a flash of lightning?) runs through the centre, leading to a lace edging. Finish off with an applied shark-tooth border which echoes the lace perfectly. A design with interest and a jolt of colour whichever way you wear it — and pleasingly, it’ll work for men and women too.

The sample shawl used approximately 55g of the CC: around 43 g on Border #1 and 12g on Border #2. The shawl can easily be made larger by continuing Border #1 in 14 row repeats, i.e. working in increments of 7 RS rows.
