When my husband and I had a day in Dublin while on a cruise last May, we went to Trinity College to see their national treasure, The Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript that was written by monks around A.D 800. The book has many interesting designs we have come to call Celtic knots, and I wanted to find one I could turn into a knitting pattern. The one I chose is shown in the pattern and from which I created the Celtic Knot pattern with a seed stitch border around it. To complete the sweater with more Celtic designs, I added a panel down the back and a braid running from each side of the neck along a saddle shoulder and down the sleeve to the wrist.
