This cardigan is the simplest possible to knit! I think any knitter could make it - as there are no difficult stitches and no seaming (apart from a couple of inches under each armhole). And the result is astonishing: a soft, gorgeous, figure-flattering and feminine cardigan. Easy to wear, easy to love!
To be used in different ways: collar outwards and sleeves turned up to show off the reversible side, with a brooch at bustline, belted, or (if you don’t mind the few stiches under the armholes) reversed to show off the beautiful wrong side of work.
The shape is so flattering: narrow sleeves, neat raglanshaping, a soft A-line for the body.

Construction: bottom up and seamless (apart from the gap of the underarms) you work the lower body back and forth on a circular needle, sleeves are in the round, at underarms lower body and sleeves are joined and continued in one piece. Best thing last; the collar is completely integrated in the knitting!!!

MaterialsYarn: I used Sandnes Garn’s “Alpakka”, an alpaca yarn of DK weight, gorgeous to work with, and very well suited for garther st. Each ball of Sandnes “Alpakka” contains 50gr/1.76oz and is 110metres/120yards long. I think you could substitute it for another, similar merino, alpaca or blended wool as long as you respect the gauge. You need 5/6/6/6/7/7/8/8 balls of color A (white) and 5/6/6/6/7/7/8 balls of color B (black).

Needles: The lower and upper body is worked using a circular needle, 4mm/US6, 100cm/ 40 inches long. The sleeves could be worked using a set of dpns, or a circular needle (if working the magic loop), size 4mm/US6.
Notions: removable stitch-markers. Separate holders. Blunt tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

I knitted it in black and white (which made me think of lovely, crushed cardamom seeds!) to be able to make great photos - but I think it would be fantastic in other color combinations (or stripes!)as well! Why don’t play around with broad and narrow stripes?
