Chrysanthemum frutescens Socks
Chrysanthemum frutescens
I sometimes think daisies are a bit under-appreciated. They seem so sweet and cheerful that it’s easy to forget just how lovely they are. For these socks, I wanted to make something a bit more sophisticated than what you might expect from the common daisy. The curved picot cuff, intricate leg patterning (inspired by the shape of the petals), and careful heel and toe details all combine to produce an unabashedly ornate result. I took the opposite approach for the hat. I kept the shape as simple as possible and used just one beautifully textured stitch (drawn from the pattern on the flower buds) to do all the work. The result is both striking and versatile, producing a hat that works as well for men as for women.
