Cowl, hood, shawl… long or short; up or down; whatever you call it and however you wear it, this multi-purpose garment will keep you cozy and cute. A little bit romantic and a little bit avant-garde, it will fit right in amongst any modern fairy princess’s wardrobe basics. Find an especially lovely, soft yarn you’ve been coveting and knit away with your head in the clouds and your eyes on sunny days ahead.

YARN
500-900 yards worsted or aran weight yarn. Note that a yarn’s drape can significantly affect yardage used.

NEEDLES
US #9/5.5mm 32” or longer circular needle (or size you need to get gauge).

NOTIONS
Crochet hook, scrap yarn, tapestry needle, cable needle (optional).

GAUGE
4 sts per inch in stockinette stitch. Gauge is not crucial in this pattern, however it will affect the finished size. Your fabric should be pleasantly loose and drapey, so you may like a looser gauge than suggested for the yarn.

SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate (cabling, short row shaping, Kitchener Stitch)

SIZE
One size fits most & knit to fit.

Scarf section apprx 6” wide, hood apprx 15” at widest point. Length is up to you – shown as apprx 32” (purple), 40” (gray), and 48” (natural) along cable edge when laid flat, doubled.
