The different elements of this shawl and their arrangement make me think of “melodia”.
Melodia - Italian word for melody - is defined as a sequence of single, different tones related to one another and repeated throughout a composition as to make up a single entity.

The shawl is worked top down, it features cables, lace, vikkel braids, nupps and a knitted bind off with picots; this pdf contains directions and links to video tutorials for the beginning tab, the vikkel braids and the bind off with picots.

This pattern has been test knitted with sport weight, fingering weight and heavy lace weight yarns.

On the download page there are two files :
“Melodia.pdf” is the complete pattern with charts and written directions, “Test_samples_Melodia.pdf” contains the pictures and the specifics of all the test samples. The test knitters have done a GREAT job, their projects are stunning !

NOTE : the “Test_sample_Melodia.pdf” does NOT contain directions, only pictures of the test samples, yarn amount, measurements and notes. There is NO need to print it to knit this pattern.

The pattern is both in charts and text format.

This design was born as Cre-AL 2014 Mystery/No Mystery KAL at in tiziana’s corner Ravelry group, my sample has been worked with approx. 1148.3yd / 1050 m of 100% sport weight superwash merino wool (164yd/ 150m on 1.76oz / 50g) - nupps ‘eat’ quite a bit of yarn! - but this pattern has also been test knitted with fingering weight and heavy laceweight yarn.

Solid colored yarns are preferred to show the details of the design, two test samples have been worked with more than one color and they look VERY beautiful !

You are welcome to join us at tiziana’s corner Ravelry group to chat, knit along and have fun !
