A combination of knitting and crocheting will produce this delightful three dimensional rose scarf/lariat necklace. Whether you like the regular version or want to try your hand at felting, this pattern has directions for both, including photos.
A central rose framed by two leaves is the focal point for this necklace. Its diameter is 3 in. (7.5 cm). Further down the “stem” two rosebuds appear, each with their own green calyx for a realistic look. The ends of the scarf/necklace are finished off with a leaf.
The round “stem” is achieved by knitting I-cord on double pointed needles. The flowers and leaves are crocheted. I would say an intermediate crochet level of expertise is needed. Each element is worked separately then everything is sewn together. It does take time to assemble all the elements and then sew them all together but you will be rewarded with a very professional looking and unique floral scarf.
For the felted version you will need to use a yarn that is at least 80% wool (not superwash or machine washable). I really like the look of the felted version. The stitches all blend together so you can’t tell how it was made.
The necklace/scarf is 5.5 ft long (168 cm). You can wrap it around once or twice. Wear it over a T-shirt or jacket. It’s very versatile.

Materials: About 100 yds (meters) of each color.
