This shawl design was inspired by the hills and valleys that I love to hike in. I

This is a shallow crescent shawl that looks great in yarn with long repeats of changing colors.
It is knit using a provisional cast on from the bottom up, then the provisional stitches are picked up and you knit the edging.

Gauge is not that important for this pattern. If you use a yarn that is like Limerick, the shawl will be light and flowing, if you use a heavier DK yarn the shawl will be a little more dense and warmer, but the drape is still great on a size 7 US needle. If you want it more open and flowing in a DK such as Madeline Tosh and you knit tight, then I suggest an 8 US needle.
