This pattern was designed for Super Sock Scarefest 2017 and is inspired by the Dario Argento film Suspiria.

The sock leg features a textured pattern of stocking stitch, reverse stocking stitch and cables echoing the stained glass through which the first victim of the film falls. This makes a tessellating pattern of squares with triangles making up the bigger squares that wrap around the leg. Smaller squares decorate the foot to represent the shattered glass that falls to the hallway below, killing the second victim. All worked on a garter stitch background which creates a faux back seam depicting the rope which suspends the fallen victim and the ribbing echoes the paintwork in the hallway.

The pattern specifies three sizes and the foot length can be varied as required. The socks are knit toe-up and incorporate a boomerang heel using the German short-row method.

Any fingering weight sock yarn may be used but a solid or semi-solid is recommended.
