Main File now compiled. Note this is also available in DUTCH. There are extensive tutorials in both languages for CLUES I to III. The tutorials for the remaining CLUES are in the main files.

Inspired by Dutch Delft Polychrome pottery. Most people know I am first generation Dutch Canadian, and as such, was exposed to a lot of Dutch Delft (both blue and white, and polychrome) as a child. I was always intrigued by the colors and freshness of the palette, and the designs were exciting to me as well.

Please join in the creation of this unique afghan, which features ovals and odd shapes, and some patterns you’ve never seen before! Hook with confidence; all my work is 3-level tested and proofread by experienced crocheters. There is tutorial support for difficult stitches/sections.

This was run as a CLUES based format from October 15, 2016, to November 25, 2016.

Yarn Recommendation based on Vanna’s Choice aran-weight yarn
I Love This Yarn Hobby Lobby, Red Heart SuperSaver also recommended

Hooks: 5.5 mm (US I) recommended; 5.0 mm (US H) for one of the motifs small parts
Stitch markers, scissors, yarn needle

Aran-weight: Vanna’s Choice used in sample

Color W/MC is main background: 700 g or 1150 yds

Color B is main contrast background and will be also used for joins: 500-600 g--850 yds should be enough
Color B could be split into 2 shades, B1 and B2, using slightly less of B1. Suggestions made in Appendix

Color G is leaves: 300 g (used in borders too)--500 yds

Color T is tulips: 300 g (used in borders too)--500 yds

Color Y is contrast: 200 g (used in borders too)--340 yds

ESTIMATES for DK--those who tested in DK used between 4.0 to 5.0 mm hooks (US F-H)

Available in Main File.

I had testers working on them in Stylecraft Special DK, Stylecraft Batik, and Deramores DK, and one gal in Cygnet DK (similar to Stylecraft Special in weight).

Difficulty Level: Some of the stitches are a little intricate, and you know I love the invisible join and the air crochet/standing double crochet, so maybe practice those! I’d say Intermediate.

Size:. The afghan for me finished at 68” square, testers got 66” to 72” square (aran-weight). DK testers got between 50 and 58” square.
