I wanted to create an heirloom for my first grandchild. This lovely, lightweight baby blanket is worked in light fingering or heavier lace weight yarn using small needles. The work is fine and takes time, but worthwhile for a blanket that can be passed down through the family.

Eyelets (using yarnovers, stitches knit together, and slipped stitches) are used to create the diamond pattern over 10 stitches and 12 rows.

The pattern provided is for a 30” x 40” blanket, but can easily be sized for a smaller rectangle or square by adding/removing repeats. One repeat is a little over 1”, width or height.

A crochet hook is listed to facilitate correcting dropped stitches. A large eyed needle can also be useful in weaving ends.
