Doce is a crescent shaped shawl knitted top-down starting with only a few stitches. Pattern is one size but can be easily adjusted by working additional main pattern repeats.

Doce (the Portuguese word for sweet or candy) was a Seni Designs mystery K.A.L specially designed for the beautiful yarn Sul, hand Dyed by Alfinete.


LEVEL: Intermediate – Stitches used: K, P, M1, M3, Yo, Ssk, K2tog, S2kp, RT, Drop sts. Garter tab cast-on and elastic bind-off (explained in pattern)

SIZE: approx 40 cm wide by 127 cm long (15.7 x 50”)

GAUGE: 19 sts = 10 cm (4”) – unblocked in Stockinette st with 3.75 mm (US 5) needles - Adjust the needle size to get gauge or according to your desired effect - larger needles for an airy look or smaller needles for better st definition. Take time to check your gauge. Gauge is listed as a guide for yardage requirements - if you knit to a different gauge, make sure you have the yarn you will need.

SUGGESTED YARN: Alfinete 15 (light fingering weight yarn) approx 409 m (447.2 yds)

MATERIALS: size 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needles; size 5.5 mm (US 9) for BO; waste yarn; tapestry needle; markers; pins or wires for blocking
