A pretty and very warm pair of mitts here, a perfect present as there are so many colours to choose from in the Freedom Spirit range.
The double cable pattern in the middle fo the hand looks like large twisted stitches, it’s an easy technique to master or zoom through if you’re already a master.

This pair of fingerless mittens can be knitted with one ball of yarn IF you go for the shorter size, OR IF you are lucky enough to have a ball that is oversized. The finished item weighs in at 52-53 grams once made up, so I have made the longer size in the past with one ball of Twilleys Freedom Spirit, other times I’ve had to take a few yards from a second ball. Another option is to use stash yarn for the thumb and fingers ribbing, to contrast, and then you’ll definitely have enough for the longer pair.
You’ll be knitting these flat and sewing a side seam, so don’t panic if you’re worried about cabling and knitting in the round.
