This is a “thread lace” pattern utilizing a baby sport yarn and a fingering weight yarn (or 2 strands of serger thread) cast on together. What creates the lacy look on this dragonflies and hearts blanket is, where the punch card/electronic input indicates, the machine knits/purls the fingering thread only and allows the sport yarn to fall behind stitches on knit rows and in front of stitches on purl rows. Fully detailed instruction for seaming together 5 panels in a woven style alternative to crocheting.
