Ombré certainly seems to be in style right now. I looked up the definition and it means shade or graduated in tone of a color which is easily achievable with this simple technique of knitting two strands of yarn together.

This pattern includes instructions for tablets in 2 sizes:
iPad mini/Kindle = 5”x8” (12.5 x 20 cm)
iPad = 7.5”x 9.5” (19 x 24 cm)
