Inspired by a photo of movie star Eddie Redmayne modeling a distinctive, scrappy sweater for a fashion design house, Julia Farwell-Clay became fascinated with how the stitch pattern worked. That fascination led to an article in our pages, and ultimately to this gorgeous shell-bordered wrap design.

The Eddy Wrap begins with a classic (and easy-peasy) garter stitch triangle, which becomes the foundation for a whimsical border of short row shells that combine colors like a mosaic tile floor or a stained glass window.

Our yarn of choice is Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca, as much for its smooth hand, warmth, and luxurious drape as for its wide range of nuanced colors.

Kits for the Eddy Wrap, in three distinctive colorways (all three shown in last image) are available in the shop at masondixonknitting.com.
