Emerge – coming out: new buds and leaves gracing our spring. By the end of the winter we long for the fresh young leaf unfurling and the spring buds ready to burst into bloom. Shall we knit a bit of spring? The cowl is in knit in the round, starting and ending with twisted rib. The body is filled with undulating curves created from elements of lace and twisted stitches that frame a unique elongated bud. A variety of stitches make it an interesting knit each step of the way. There are three sizes: the neckwarmer tucks in close under your chin, the cowl is designed to lay nicely on the shoulders and the generous infinity loop is long enough to wrap double.
Finished Size Neckwarmer (Cowl, Infinity Loop) 24 (32, 52)” / 61 (81, 132) cm in circumference. Depth is 7 (8.5, 8.5)” / 18 (22, 22) cm.

Yarn Requirements
140 (230, 375) yards / 128 (210, 375) meters of DK weight yarn.
Cowl sample is shown in Shalimar Haven in Water’s Edge.

Gauge 18 sts and 28 rows over 4” / 10cm in Emerge Lace pattern knit flat, lightly blocked. Shalimar Haven is a special blend of merino and Tussah silk. This yarn can be blocked aggressively if preferred. Gauge is not critical for a cowl. Finished size and required yardage will vary with gauge and yarn fiber blend.
