Provisional Cast-On

Lovely katushika added pockets to her Émilien. Here are the modifications she made:
pockets:

on 3rd row of last grey stripe I increased 20 sts on both sides by k1, m1 and put the regular k sts on stitch holder in front, continued working cardigan with the 20 m1-sts, ended on row 22 (ws) of last blue stripe

when cardigan was finished I put those 20 sts held in front back on my needles, started on WS knit 2 rows

increased to 35 sts by making 1 every RS row (end of row for left pocket, beginning of row for right pocket)

when reaching 35 sts I cast on another 6 sts and continued working in St st til pocket was as long as cardigan (row 22 of blue stripe)

knitted sts from pocket flap together with sts from cardigan

finished cardigan as explained in pattern

added some 2x2 ribbing to pocket and closed other side of pocket by picking up both edges (cardigan and pocket) when knitting zipper band
