I was in dire need of a cowl that can be thrown on while leaving the house & basically look good with any outfit while still being functional and warm, so I decided to create one! This fluffy goodness is knit in a syncopated brioche stitch, and while brioche can be intimidating I promise that this is such an easy, repeated pattern that its suitable for knitters who have never even attempted brioche before. Enjoy!

SIZING
– One size
– 48 inch circumference (can be worn doubled, as shown in pictures)
– 9 inches wide (unstretched)

Fiber
Approximately 400 yards fingering weight yarn
Sample: 2 skeins The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering, colorway Castlerigg

Needles & Notions
– US size 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 16 inches or longer
– US size 6 (4.25 mm) crochet hook
– Tapestry needle
– Measuring tape
– Blocking materials

Gauge
18 sts x 24 rows = 4 inches in syncopated brioche pattern (unstretched)

NOTES
For brioche knitting, just remember that the yo always works together with the stitch it is wrapped over.
I worked this scarf up in one color, but you could easily work two (or multiple) color brioche by switching up Y1 and/or Y2.
Although this cowl is reversible, I reccommend marking a right side just to keep your rows straight.
The edges may look a little funky as you are working them, but the crochet edging will whip them into shape! The edging is worked in order to give a little extra support to the sides while still preserving their elasticity.
