I was looking for a way to knit my husband’s socks with a reinforced sole. After much searching, I found a great tutorial (Winwick Mum). Unfortunately, she did hers on circular needles and I use DPNs. I also found a site showing me how to knit with 5 DPNs (Knitting Squirrel) and combined the information from both sources to create my own pattern. It’s a very simple method of knitting in the heel stitch. You may notice that the sole looks shorter than the instep. The sock will still fit properly with enough stretch.

My husband found the socks very comfortable (in work boots or around the house) and I haven’t had to darn them as yet. Hope this is helpful to other knitters!
