This magical, fairy themed design was inspired by a pretty skein of yarn. In my mind, the colour of the yarn made me think of fluttery fairy wings.

I knew that a lace pattern would help enhance the magic like qualities of the yarn, so I used a traditional Shetland motif. Worked in panels down the length of the sock it brings to mind the tiny wings of these magical creatures.

The gentle rhythm of the stitch pattern make this design the perfect comfort knit, and it would look wonderful in a tonal or delicately speckled yarn.

I added a fun contrast heel, with a comfy square turn and my much loved Umbrella Toe.

The pattern is written for the magic loop method but can easily be worked with DPN’s.

The pattern is both written and charted, and comes in 3 sizes. For the pattern sample I used my own hand dyed yarn in the ‘Fairy Wings’ colourway. The contrast heel is knitted using Fine Fish Yarns in ‘Fairycakes’.
