From the book:

Norwegian knitting is reasonably unified in style throughout the country, but certain areas have become famous for particular patterns or garments. Fana for example, just south of Bergen, is well known for its two-colour sweaters distinguished by a broad band of eight-petal roses across the shoulders and around the cuffs. The rest of the sweaters were often knitted from hem to assist in a light-coloured yarn with no pattern whatsoever, the idea being that this part of the sweater would be tucked into your trousers. I have used this feature in order to adapt the sweater as a woman’s garment, shaping the sides and emphasising the waistline, in contrast with the straight, geometric lines in Norskä. Instead of traditional black and white, I have used a soft green on a cream background to create a more feminine, romantic look.
