This sweet little hat is inspired by Elizabeth Zimmermann’s classic Baby Sweater on Two Needles (aka February Baby Sweater) from EZ’s Knitter’s Almanac. The beanie has a very simple construction, using the gull lace stitch described in the sweater pattern. The decreases are worked in a lace pattern that continues almost to the crown, and the whole thing is topped off with a cute little i-cord antenna. The hat requires about 15 grams of the yarns I used.

As I said, the pattern is simple – but it hasn’t been test knit. Please let me know if you find any mistakes or have any suggestions!

I also want to point to teeweewonders’ February Baby Hat, which was brought to my attention after writing up this pattern. Since both my and teeweewonders’ patterns are available for free, I feel ok about posting this, but I just wanted to bring it up so you can decide which one to knit for yourself!
