The flat oval spiral base of the bag is crocheted first, then when the diameter of the base is no longer increased, the edges of the spiral move upwards to form the walls.

The bag shrinks and felts like magic in a washing machine. The beauty of felted tapestry crochet is that the pattern is visible on both the inside and the outside and that the felted fabric is so substantial, it does not need to be lined.

For those who like to crochet loosely – this is the project for you – since it is tapestry crocheted with a very large hook and loose stitches. With tapestry crochet, one yarn is single crocheted, while another is carried. Colors are switched while 2 loops of the single crochet stitch are still on the hook.

Instructions and graphs are included for right-handed and left-handed crocheters. For more about this pattern, please look at my blog and for more about tapestry crochet, please look at www.tapestrycrochet.com.
