I thought this would be a great items for Craft Shows. Now I’m hooked on making them. So far I have made close to 2 dozen in the past week. They really knit up fast. They can be made with a different color flap or all one color. If you are making a two color style, 24/25 yards for the Body and 6 yards for the flap. Great way to use up your left over 100% wool yarn. Don’t use “Superwash” it is designed not to felt. The Button Hole has a tendency to felt slightly closed. So use your scissors to snip the sides a bit to open it up. It will not fray or unravel because the felting process binds all the fibers together.
I didn’t worry about a gauge because it felts down to about half the original size after felting. I am trying one with the button sewed to the front flap and Velcro glued onto the back of the flap and front of the body. I am using fabric glue. Seeing if it holds. It worked, I used Aleene’s Flexable, Stretchable Fabric Glue. So if you would rather use Velcro, don’t work Rows 5 & 6 as written. Instead repeat Rows 1 & 2.
All you need is size 10 needles, tapestry needle and a button. Quick and simple. I have wrote it out entirely. Every row accounted for. Since so much is Knit a row and Purl a row. Figured it would be easier to keep track of the rows that way.
Once I am over making Coin Purses, I plan on making a Clutch to put the Coin Purse in. Thought it would make a nice set for a gift. As soon as it’s done you will see it here also.
