There has been a lot of cancer around my friends and family recently. This blanket was designed to encourage and show support through their medical treatments. This pattern I think would be great for prayer shawl ministries, or just in general to show love to friends and family who are battling cancer.

This is my first design using Tunisian crochet - and I LOVE how the colorwork comes out! If you’ve never tried it before, it’s really not too challenging, and the front side of the piece turns out beautifully.

The gauge for the different hooks is as follows:
size I (used for granny squares and border): 15.5 st x 18 rows = 4”
size J Tunisian hook (used for color motifs): 16.5 st x 1475 rows = 4” (blocked!)

I used three different colors, about 2.5 of the background soft pink, 1 of the darker hot rose, and 1 plus a smidge of the purple cross and lettering. Choose colors that match the type of cancer your recipient is battling!

The reason I love this blanket so much is the scripture that is added to the bottom. The Tunisian crochet really helps the text work well on the fabric, and I’ve charted out six different scriptures I find encouraging that you can choose from for your blanket. If you’d like a different translation/language/verse, private message me and we can work something out.

Scripture Charts provided in NIV:
•Psalm 139:10 - even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

•Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

•Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him.

•Isaiah 40:31 - but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

•Romans 8:28 - we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him

•Psalm 29:11 - The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
