Sock yarn is not just for socks! Use two strands of sock yarn held together on US 7 double pointed needles to make these comfy, colorful, warm and washable mittens. They are easy to make larger (size will fit the average women’s hand) by adding stitches in multiples of 4…just keep the thumb gusset the same.

I used two different colors of Maxima held together but they would look just as interesting with two strands from the same skein. Hand dyed sock yarn creates a unique color pattern.

Step into Fall and stay warm.

The newest picture is using one skein of J. Knits sock yarn held doubled. Gives you an idea of what a hand dyed yarn might look like. I also kept the ribbing all the way up the mitten except for the thumb.
